People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of the deterioration of wood and the aims of wood preservation and antisapstain treatment; demonstrate knowledge of the permeability of wood in relation to wood preservation and antisapstain treatment; demonstrate knowledge of wood preservatives and antisapstain treatments; demonstrate knowledge of wood preservation and antisapstain treatment processes; identify product requirements for wood preservation and antisapstain treatment in New Zealand; demonstrate knowledge of New Zealand Timber Preservation Council (NZTPC) requirements; and demonstrate knowledge of the handling and storage of chemicals and treated wood.
This unit standard is designed for people who are, or intend to be, employed in the preservation and treatment sector of the solid wood manufacturing industry. It is also designed for people employed in related sectors of the industry.
