Strategic Purpose Statement |
This National Certificate is designed to provide recognition of the advanced on- and off-site knowledge of the operation and supervision of mobile cranes, as well as senior administration and management skills.
On completion of this qualification, people will have the knowledge and skills to pilot overweight and overdimension loads; investigate and report a crane accident; plan and direct complex lifting operations; and prepare and sling complex loads. People will also have the skills to use office administration and communication systems, supervise workplace operations, produce documents using a computer, give oral instructions, carry out mathematical calculations, and have knowledge of employment agreements. All standards in the qualification are compulsory because mobile crane supervision consists of a set of well-defined knowledge and skills that are applicable across all workplaces and locations. This qualification shares standards in common with the National Certificate in Cranes (Advanced Crane Operation) (Level 5) [Ref: 1520] which is designed for people required to operate cranes in diverse and complex situations, whereas this qualification is designed for supervisors in crane operations. This qualification builds on the National Certificate in Crane Operation with strands in Mobile Crane, Overhead Crane, Tower Crane, and Crawler Crane [Ref: 0116]. People who have completed this qualification can progress to the National Diploma in Cranes (Level 5) with strands in Mobile and Tower [Ref: 1163], or the National Diploma in Cranes (Management) (Level 6) [Ref: 1164]. |
