Strategic Purpose Statement
This National Certificate in Tourism (Level 3) is a beginning qualification for people who have decided to start a career in Tourism. It recognises the skills required to enter into supervised work in the Tourism industry.

People awarded with this qualification are able to provide a range of services to visitors including: presenting the characteristics of New Zealand visitor destinations, and New Zealand food and beverages; and providing customer services to the visitor including documentation of simple business transactions.

This qualification may build on or lead to other qualifications developed by the Aviation, Travel and Tourism Training Organisation.

Qualification Type

Level

The NZQF has ten levels. Level one is least complex and is often entry-level, for example foundation certificates. Levels eight to ten are the most complex, and include post-graduate study.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
