Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification is for people who work in general or specialist roles in the agricultural contracting sector. This qualification may follow on from the National Certificate in Rural Contracting (Introductory Skills) [Ref: 0228] and people completing it may choose to progress to the National Certificate in Rural Contracting (Management) with strands in Agrichemical Contracting, and Agricultural Contracting [Ref: 1003].

People who have met the requirements of the compulsory section are able to demonstrate knowledge of tractor safety, vehicles and loads in agricultural contracting, and the communications requirements for their work. They are able to maintain health and safety in their workplace, carry out first aid, complete driving logbooks, drive a basic wheel tractor on flat terrain, and for agricultural contracting purposes, produce and confirm a plan to carry out a basic operation and perform basic measurement and calculations.

To complete the qualification they must be able to demonstrate a range of further knowledge and skills suited to their particular circumstances including, but not limited to, specific agricultural contracting knowledge and skills.

The holder may be able to demonstrate specialist agricultural contracting competence by completing one or more of the following optional strands:
. Crop Production
. Fencing
. Harvesting
. Land Development
. Mechanical Vegetation Control
. Transport
. Zero Tillage.

An optional strand may be achieved:
1 in addition to completing the requirements of the qualification (the qualification being comprised of the Core Compulsory and the Core Elective); OR
2 with shared credits between the strand and the Core Elective. This second provision does not apply to the Fencing optional strand, which has no shared credits with the Core Elective.

Level

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
