Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification is for people involved with the supply of agrichemical products to agrichemical users.
The qualification recognises the generic knowledge required when supplying agrichemical products, such as safety and first aid; the environmental aspects of agrichemical use; environmental emergency response procedures; transportation, storage and disposal of agrichemicals; and the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) Act 1996 and NZS 8409:2004 Management of Agrichemicals for the use of agrichemicals. Strands recognise the specialist skills and knowledge required for people to provide advice on either animal health products or plant protection products. The Animal Health Product Strand includes the knowledge required for the use of animal health products, animal health product labels, and animal health product information sources. The Plant Protection Product Strand includes the knowledge of product labels and information sources, integrated pest management (IPM), and plant protection product development. Completion of this qualification provides a pathway onto other Agriculture Industry Training Organisation qualifications either in rural servicing such as the National Certificate in Rural Servicing, with strands in Animal Retail, and Plant Retail, and an optional strand in Advanced Fertiliser [Ref: 0759]; or in agribusiness management such as the National Certificate in Agribusiness Management (Agribusiness Resource Management) [Ref: 1187]; National Certificate in Agribusiness Management (Business Planning and Financial Management) [Ref: 1186]; or National Diploma in Agribusiness Management [Ref: 0647]. People can also follow a pathway to other qualifications in first line management, or business management depending on their particular areas of interest. |
