Strategic Purpose Statement |
The National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Generation) (Level 4) is designed for people working in the generation sector of the electricity supply industry and recognises the skills required to manage and maintain electricity generation plant. It is structured to encourage holders to have a range of core skills and knowledge and the adaptability to work across two Electricity Supply domains.
The qualification is also flexible in that it enables candidates to structure the qualification to suit their chosen career path or an employer's requirements. There are three elective sets - the first contains generic skills which are relevant to the industry, the second set is specific to the electricity generation sector and closely allied sectors, and the third set focuses on theory elements from specialist disciplines. Industry considers it necessary that holders of this qualification should have achieved credit from each of these areas. Candidates attain compulsory core unit standards in generation and electricity supply and then select elective unit standards in generic areas and specialist disciplines of their choice. For those wishing to gain recognition for further specific skills, four optional strands are available as follows: Electrical Theory and Practice Instrumentation and Control Theory and Practice Mechanical Theory and Practice Management Theory and Practice This qualification builds on the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Level 2) [Ref: 0354]. It incorporates unit standards common to the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Networks) (Level 4) [Ref: 0355] so that people wishing to change direction in their work are able to use those unit standards towards other qualifications. |
