Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification is intended for people working or intending to work in the furniture retail and wholesale industry. This qualification shows that the holder has the introductory skills necessary for an initial appointment as a salesperson, and indicates a readiness for training towards further qualifications and a career in furniture retailing.
The qualification covers compulsory skills in health and safety, personal presentation and the ability to perform calculations in the workplace. The elective sections are broken into two areas with Elective A requiring candidates to select credits from the furniture product knowledge domain, and Elective B covering the areas of computing, distribution, merchandising, retail skills, stock control and sales transactions. The optional strand in Buying and Selling covers the skills and knowledge related to buying and selling and would apply to candidates who are required to carry out these functions as part of their job role. This qualification can lead onto the National Certificate in Furniture (Retail and Wholesale) (Level 4) [Ref: 0438]. |
