Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification recognises the key skills and competencies of a person who is, or seeks to become, a warranted inspector in animal welfare under the prevailing legislation.
The certificate is designed to maintain standards in the industry, which is represented by both paid and unpaid staff, people employed in the public sector and working for the RNZSPCA. The broad base of standards drawn from communications and compliance recognises the transferability and generic nature of many of the skills. The animal care and handling and other context specific standards provide the specialist skills unique to the role. This qualification includes unit standards that form part of the National Certificate in Veterinary Nursing [Ref: 0221] for which credit transfer is automatic. Credit transfer arrangements have been included in this qualification and also specific information for people whom the recognition of current competence process may be appropriate. People seeking such recognition should approach an accredited training provider or the Public Sector Training Organisation (see 'credit transfer arrangements' and 'Recognition of Current Competence' (RCC) below). |
