Strategic Purpose Statement |
This certificate is awarded to people who have demonstrated the skills required to work safely with bituminous materials at roadworks sites and to operate plant for bituminous paving construction.
People with the asphalt strand will have knowledge of the compaction of hot-mix asphalt and be able to operate a hot-mix asphalt paving machine. They will be able to perform operator maintenance requirements on the paver machine, to set up the paver screed and sensors, monitor the feed, align the mat, and maintain the compacted level. People with the chipseal strand will be able to operate a truck-mounted roller spreader for chipsealing works. This qualification shares common standards with the following Pavement Surfacing National Certificates: . National Certificate in Pavement Surfacing (Application) with strands in Asphalt, and Chipseal [Ref: 0465]; . National Certificate in Pavement Surfacing (Asphalt Paving Supervision) with optional strands in High Capacity Roads, and Polymers [Ref: 0193]; . National Certificate in Pavement Surfacing (Asphalt Production Plant Operation) with an optional strand in Polymers [Ref: 0466]; . National Certificate in Pavement Surfacing (Bitumen Sprayer Operation) with an optional strand in High Capacity Roads [Ref: 0195]; . National Certificate in Pavement Surfacing (Chipseal Design) with optional strands in Emulsions, and Polymers [Ref: 0196]; . National Certificate in Pavement Surfacing (Chipseal Supervision) with optional strands in High Capacity Roads, Emulsions, and Polymers [Ref: 0197]; . National Certificate in Pavement Surfacing (Hot-Mix Asphalt Design) with an optional strand in Polymers [Ref: 0467]. |
