Strategic Purpose Statement |
The structure of this qualification allows employers and providers to design a programme of study specific to the interests of trainees and the needs of industry. The structure also permits an overview of the principal mechanical engineering sectors, or alternatively, a degree of specialisation.
While this qualification is suited to those wishing to pursue a programme of study and subsequent employment in the mechanical engineering industry, it also provides a means for recognition of current competency for those currently employed in mechanical engineering enterprises. This qualification provides a foundation for further study in mechanical engineering disciplines through qualifications such as the National Certificate in Maintenance and Diagnostics in Mechanical Engineering (Level 4) [Ref: 0125], and the National Certificate in Engineering - Fabrication (Level 4) with strands in Heavy Fabrication, Light Fabrication, and Welding [Ref: 0122]. |
