Strategic Purpose Statement |
Graduates will be able to explore alternative methods of tourism destination marketing; analyse the social, cultural, environmental and community impacts of a tourism enterprise; research the requirements for establishing and operating a small to medium sized tourism enterprise; develop and manage customer service strategies; analyse the history of tourism and factors which have affected its growth, development and structure, worldwide and in New Zealand; analyse the current state of New Zealand tourism and the factors which are likely to impact on its future; apply business management skills within the travel and tourism industry. Graduates will also qualify for the National Diploma in Tourism (Management).

Entry Requirements |
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age (18 years of age for international applicants) and must pass the Crown Entry test. Applicants must have knowledge and skills equivalent to the Crown Certificate in International Travel, Tourism and Airline Studies or at least a level 3 National Certificate in Tourism plus an additional 30 credits at level 4 or above from the subfield of Tourism. International students must also have a standard of English language equivalent to TOEFL 550 or IELTS Band 6.0.

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
