Strategic Purpose Statement
Graduates will be able to be licensed lay or ordained leaders in the Anglican Church in Aotearoa New Zealand and Polynesia having gained knowledge of the practice of ministry and mission which is Biblically based and culturally appropriate. They will be people who have reflected on their own spiritual life and be aware of the traditions and practices of others. They will have reflected on their cultural identity within the history of the Church in Aotearoa New Zealand and Polynesia, its bicultural identity and three tikanga structure and be able to apply this knowledge and self awareness into respectful work cross culturally. Graduates will be able to work on their own or as part of a team with responsibility for a congregation or numbers of congregations having skills in communication and facilitation. They will be able to design and deliver liturgical services and preach on Biblical texts. They will be able to offer pastoral care which is culturally appropriate and ethical. They will understand their context and make appropriate mission focused responses.
This qualification could lead to further study in ministry or theology subject to the procedures of other providers. Licensing in the Anglican Church is subject to Church processes.
Entry Requirements
Students will have a qualification in Theology, Biblical Studies or Christian Ministry at level 5 or higher or its equivalent or be studying towards a qualification in Theology, Biblical Studies or Christian Ministry at level 6 or higher. Entry is subject to the recommendation of a representative of the Hui Amorangi or Diocese and the Head of College with the Director of Studies.
Students applying for enrolment require competency in English language demonstrated by (a) a minimum of 8 credits in NCEA Level 2 English, Sixth Form English or equivalent, or (b) achieving the standard of IELTS 6.0 in an entry test in English comprehension and writing.
International students including students from Polynesia need to have achieved an academic IELTS score of not less than 6.0.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
