Strategic Purpose Statement
Aim of the course The Diploma in Digital Photography (Advanced) will enable students to prepare for a career in the field of digital photography, imaging and related positions within the creative industry, through professional and personal development opportunities; develop and equip students with highly specialized technical and scholastic skill and knowledge in photographic technique, business, digital imaging and theoretical context. Students will graduate with an understanding of their abilities, creativity and be adaptable to changes in industry.
Graduate profile
After completing the course, students will: be equipped with highly specialised skill and knowledge in current photographic tools, techniques and related technologies; have developed more advanced analytic, argumentation and communication skills; be able to apply theory to the development of photographic solutions; have the confidence to be creative and strategic in processing visual ideas; be able to apply current photographic techniques to the development of creatively processed image solutions; have the management skills to work independently and/or in a team, and to manage photographic projects; have sound problem solving abilities relevant to photography; have an appreciation and understanding of the social and commercial context of photographic practice; be adept at using current information technology in their photographic practice; be able to work autonomously as a reflective practitioner; be a responsible and accountable practitioner who is aware of and is able to implement good business practices.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must: - Have successfully completed the New Zealand School of Education Limited Level 6, Digital photography qualification, preferably with a 'B' Grade or Higher. It is recommended that students who achieve less than a 'B' Grade average, will be required to undergo a technical competency test with specified equipment, as advised by the Programme Director and be completed by technical staff. - Have the necessary academic ability and attitude to cope with a third year Diploma Programme, as demonstrated in writing and in a portfolio of work from the previous 2 years. - Students for whom English is not their first language must provide evidence of competency in English language equivalent to IELTS 6 (Academic).
