Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification is for people who drive goods service vehicles carrying solid waste and recoverable resources. It builds on the knowledge and skills acquired from completion of the National Certificate in Driving (Light Motor Vehicle) [Ref: 0796], the National Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Introductory Skills) [Ref: 0189], or the National Certificate in Goods Service (Core Skills) with optional strands in Dangerous Goods and Forklifts [Ref: 1227].
This qualification recognises that the holder has the skills necessary to work safely, efficiently, and lawfully as an operator transporting solid waste and recoverable resources. The holder will have demonstrated knowledge of the dynamics of operating a motor vehicle, have demonstrated a range of knowledge and skills that are relevant to their specific sector, and built on skills already acquired as a driver with a Class 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 driver licence. The strand electives offer candidates the opportunity to choose to demonstrate competency in operating one of the following types of vehicle: . Front loader . Vehicle with self-loading equipment . Gantry . Hookload . Left hand drive low entry vehicle . Rearload . Sideloader . Transfer vehicle (waste bales) . High sider fitted with sidelifter . Portable toilet transport and service vehicle. Candidates who have completed this certificate with the Light Motor Vehicle Strand and who wish to progress to the certificate with the Heavy Motor Vehicle Strand may cross-credit standards achieved. |
