Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification recognises the skills and knowledge required of trade level finger jointer operators in the wood manufacturing industry.
The compulsory section contains standards that ensure a thorough knowledge of maintaining and grinding cutterheads. The elective sections allow specialisation in face-to-face or edge-to-edge finger jointing operations as well as tooling and machinery, coordinating and troubleshooting the finger jointing operation, and performance of basic calculations relevant to finger jointing operations. This qualification follows on from the Engineered Wood Product Operations strand of the National Certificate in Solid Wood Manufacturing (Level 3) with strands in Engineered Wood Product Operations; Planer Operations; Pole, Post and Pile Operations; Saw Doctoring Operations; Sawmilling Operations; Timber Drying Operations; Timber Grading; and Timber Treatment Operations [Ref: 1693], and may lead on to the National Certificate in Solid Wood Manufacturing (Advanced Technical Plant Operations) (Level 5) [Ref: 1312]. |
