Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification is for people working at senior level in the Clothing Manufacturing industry. It is designed to recognise the on-job competence of a skilled tradesperson able to organise and supervise all the production activities within their area of responsibility. The elective sections provide flexibility by allowing the selection of the most appropriate knowledge and skills for a particular job role.
The compulsory standard ensures that all holders of the qualification have knowledge of all the commercial garment assembly operations and sequences. The first elective provides options for either specialising in the areas of Cutting and Sewing, Design and Patternmaking or Production Planning, or selecting a range of skills across two or more of those areas. The second elective allows for the selection of business and communication knowledge and skills to complement the industry specific skills. The qualification can build on the National Certificate in Clothing Manufacture (Cutting) (Level 3) [Ref: 0822] or the National Certificate in Clothing Manufacture (Sewing) (Level 3) [Ref: 0823] or the National Certificate in Clothing Manufacture (Design and Patternmaking) (Level 3) [Ref: 0926] by allowing further specialisation in that area. This qualification may lead to further education and training at higher levels in production planning or business management. |
