Strategic Purpose Statement
The National Diploma in Extractive Industries (Site Management) (Level 5) with strands in Surface Extraction, and Underground Extraction [Ref: 1524] is designed for managers who are situated on site at a surface or underground extraction site or for graduates with a tertiary qualification who are working in the extractives industry.

The core compulsory section recognises skills and knowledge in regulatory requirements; human resource management; legislation; quality assurance; planning; accounting; and tendering, negotiating, and managing a contract.

The strands enable the holder to demonstrate specific skills and knowledge required to manage a surface or underground extraction site.

This qualification is part of a pathway that begins with the National Certificate in Extractive Industries (Introductory Skills) with strands in Surface Extraction, and Underground Extraction [Ref: 0247], the National Certificate in Extractive Industries (Operations) with strands in Coal Plant, Drilling Surface, Drilling Underground, Maintenance Operations, Metalliferous Processing, Mobile Plant Surface, Processing Plant, Surface Extraction, Underground Extraction, and Water Treatment [Ref: 1521], the National Certificate in Extractive Industries (Supervision) (Level 4) with strands in Surface Extraction, and Underground Extraction [Ref: 0249], the National Certificate in Extractive Industries (Supervision) (Level 5) with strands in Surface Extraction, and Underground Extraction [Ref: 1523] and culminates in the National Diploma in Extractive Industries (Management) with strands in Surface Extraction, and Underground Extraction [Ref: 0806]. This qualification can be completed at any stage within this pathway to meet individual and company needs (noting that the National Certificate in Extractive Industries (Introductory Skills) (Level 2) with strands in Surface Extraction, and Underground Extraction [Ref: 0247] is a prerequisite for award of this qualification).
