Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification is for people involved in collecting milk in the dairy industry. The qualification is not designed to assess a candidate's driving knowledge and skills but to provide dairy manufacturing knowledge and skills related to milk collection.
The compulsory section of the qualification covers the knowledge and skills related to maintaining product quality when loading, unloading, and transporting product; loading and unloading milk tankers; fatigue management, work time and drive logbook requirements; maintaining personal presentation and a positive attitude in the workplace; and performing calculations in the workplace. Elective 1 enables candidates to select standards from the Dairy Environmental Management, Dairy Product Safety and Risk Management, Dairy Quality and Process Improvement, Dairy Technology, and Dairy Workplace Health and Safety to provide knowledge and skills related to dairy manufacturing and the requirements relating to milk collection. Elective 2 enables candidates to select standards from the Occupational Health and Safety Practice, First Aid, and Workplace Fire and Emergency Response domains to provide knowledge and skills relating to public health and safety requirements that fit with their job roles and industry expectations of staff providing services in emergency situations on public roads. Alternatively they can select standards from anywhere in the Service Sector field. This is a standalone qualification, however, it may lead on from the National Certificate in Goods Service (Heavy Vehicle Driver) with strands in Heavy Rigid Vehicle, and Heavy Combination Vehicle, and with optional strands in Transportation of Bulk Dangerous Goods by Road, Transportation of Livestock by Road, and Transportation of Perishable Products by Road [Ref: 1228]. This qualification is designed to be achieved on-job supplemented with short courses for some theory standards. |
