The Bachelor of Hospitality Management programme aims to provide students with the skills to pursue a hospitality management career in the global marketplace. The programme allows students to specialise in the fast-growing hospitality sector.

Graduates of this programme will be able to: Communicate effectively with guests, prospective guests, co-workers, senior management, industry suppliers and other stakeholders. Incorporate an understanding of various cultural perspectives in as demonstrated through their communication. Integrate relevant theory, experience and skills to implement best practice across the range of hospitality operations and management. Relate their experience in working in a hospitality environment to the application of broader management principles. Draw on theories and tools of analysis they have learned to manage hospitality organisations efficiently and enhance organisational performance. Take responsibility for own learning, conduct independent investigation, identify problems and develop creative solutions which exhibit academic rigour. Take responsibility for ongoing personal development in the hospitality industry after graduation.

Entry Requirements |
A candidate for admission to this programme of study shall: have a minimum of 14 NCEA credits in each of three subjects at Level 3, and a minimum of 14 numeracy credits at Level 1 or higher, and a minimum of 8 literacy credits at Level 2 or higher; or have successfully undertaken tertiary study; or hold an equivalent overseas qualification; and have attained the age of 17 years; and have an English level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 (with no band less than 5.5) / TOEFL iBT 60 (with a writing score of 20) / PToE academic score of 50 / AIS Test of English Proficiency (TEP) 52/80 (with no band less than 12); or gain approval under Admission Regulation 3: Special Admission

Content |
The programme consists of 360 credits (21 courses) including 14 compulsory courses in areas such as food production, F & B operations and management, accounting fundamentals, marketing, business information systems, strategic management, customer relationships, reception and front office facilities. In their third year, students will also complete either an applied management project or a research project.
