Strategic Purpose Statement
The aim of the Grad Dip ICT (Level 7) is to provide students with the knowledge, expertise and specialist skills in subjects related to ICT to make them productive in an ICT world.

The full time one year Grad Dip ICT is designed to meet the needs of graduates from a variety of disciplines who do not possess the specific skills necessary to work in ICT industries, but who have already demonstrated the ability to perform at a significant academic level.

This programme includes courses from a wide range of ICT related disciplines including analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of business information systems.
Graduate profile
It is realistic to expect graduates of the Grad Dip ICT, to be able to:

- Demonstrate specialist skills, depending on the options chosen, in a range of:
- Programming
- Database Development
- Multimedia
- Enterprise Application Development
- Website Development
- Data Communications and Networking
- ICT Management
- Complete industry based ICT project work of an applied nature
- Conduct research into contemporary issues in ICT
- Manage ICT projects effectively.
Education pathways
The graduate diploma prepares graduates to undertake post graduate study in information and communication technologies.
Employment pathways
Graduates will be prepared for employment in the field of information and communication technologies. Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

7.2.1. Successfully completed a bachelor's degree in any field excluding the specific graduate diploma field.

OR

7.2.2. Successfully completed a Level 6 or 7 Diploma and relevant work and/or life experience (equivalent to a Bachelor's degree).

OR

7.2.3. Evidence of equivalent practical, professional or educational experience e.g. three - five years full time work experience [relevant to ICT studies].

AND

7.2.4. Have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English. Any applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 6.0 (with no score below 6.0 in speaking, reading, writing and listening) or equivalent.

Selection:

Applicants who meet the requirements for admission are accepted into the programme in the order their applications are received.

An interview process will be available on application to counsel the appropriate choice of programme, to determine whether any specific support is required and to ensure students are well informed about the programme's demands and requirements. Whanau/family will be invited to accompany applicants to these interviews.

It is recommended that you have a basic level of computing skills before enrolling in the programme.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
