Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the conventions and incentives industry with individuals who can professionally contribute to planning and project management of functions, conferences and a range of incentive events and through their skills and knowledge increase the contribution of the conventions and incentives industry to the New Zealand economy.

Graduates will be able to deliver, and assist in supporting the delivery of, conventions and incentive event products across a range of organisations in the conventions and incentives industry creating a quality customer experience. Their applied skills and knowledge will involve working under broad guidance, and they may also have some responsibility for the performance of others.

Indigenous values of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga in relation to travel and tourism may be encompassed in the holistic outcomes of this qualification.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Identify and utilise business operational systems and project management processes applicable to the conventions and incentives sector, which enable the delivery of a quality customer experience and contribute to overall business effectiveness.
- Deliver customer service, product advice, and sales applicable to the conventions and incentives sector, applying accurate communication, literacy, numeracy and problem solving skills, to grow and maintain customer relationships.
- Apply workplace practices required of the conventions and incentives industry including: self-management, teamwork, and compliance with relevant Acts and legislation.
- Apply environmental 'best practice' processes and procedures in order to minimise the environmental impacts of the conventions and incentives industry.
Education pathways
This qualification can lead to the New Zealand Diploma in Tourism Conventions and Incentives (Level 5) with strands in Conference Organisation, Convention Bureaux, Incentives Planning, and Venue Sales and Operations [Ref: 2209].
Employment pathways
Holders of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to work in the Conventions and Incentives sector of the tourism industry. Credits
