Strategic Purpose Statement |
The aim of the Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Practice in Health and Wellbeing (Specialty) is to produce evidence based health and wellbeing practitioner graduates who are able to use current research to lead advancements in their career, team and/or profession. They will also be able to critically analyse advanced theoretical and/or professional knowledge and apply this to their profession and setting.

Entry Requirements |
Minimum academic entry criteria are:
Ākonga entering this programme must hold a bachelor's degree in an allied health profession, or a profession aligned with allied health with a health and/or wellbeing focus. International applicants for whom English is a second language are required to have an IELTS overall band score (Academic) of 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.5 in each band. These IELTS scores align with what is required in to apply for registration as an occupational therapist in Aotearoa New Zealand. Applicants who do not meet the academic requirements for entry into the programme can make an application to the Head of School, who will consider the application on a case-by-case basis. Entry to the programme will be at the Head of School's discretion. Selection Criteria* Ākonga who meet the entry criteria will be offered places in order of acceptance to the programme, until all places are full. They will then be placed on a waiting list and informed if a place becomes available. |

The Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Practice in Health and Wellbeing (Specialty) is a 60-credit programme designed for ākonga who may not be occupational therapists but who are seeking to complete a postgraduate qualification. Individual pathways will be negotiated between the ākonga and Programme Leader, to enable students to follow a coherent pathway focusing on an identified specialty area, for acknowledgement on their transcript.
There are no specific requirements for which courses are determined for inclusion in the specialty, rather ākonga will be guided in their selection of those most appropriate for their specialty area. All assessments completed must show clear alignment with the specialty focus. Some courses may have specific requirements related to practice expertise; these are identified on the course summary, and ākonga will be advised at the time of enrolment. |
