Strategic Purpose Statement
The aim of this programme is to enable students to develop the specialist knowledge and skills, including strategic and creative thinking, analysis and synthesis, required to operate as a Design Thinker in multiple contexts.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Design Thinking, Level 8 will
- have sound knowledge and understanding of the Design Thinking process and how Design Thinking techniques can be applied in different contexts, nationally and internationally
- have a good understanding of the role of a Design Thinker
- be able to work collaboratively and professionally with people from a range of backgrounds
- be able to apply Design Thinking concepts and skills learnt in a variety of contexts
- be able to confidently engage in and creatively resolve problems and effectively communicate their resolution
- be able to use research findings to improve products, services and experiences
- be able to work independently
- be able to work effectively in a team
- be able to take responsibility for their own learning
- be able to learn from experiences gained in different contexts
Education pathways
Graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Design Thinking, Level 8 may progress to further study at Masters level in either the discipline of their undergraduate degree or in other associated disciplines eg Master of Philosophy. They may also want to compete the second year of the programme and gain a Master in Design Thinking, Level 9. If they choose to do this, they will need to complete their Master of Design Thinking within six years from the date of their first enrolment in the Postgraduate Diploma.
Employment pathways
Graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Design Thinking, Level 8 will have the skills and knowledge to work as members of a Design Thinking team in a range of businesses and service contexts including Design Thinking consultancies, businesses -government, non government, profit and not for profit. Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
