Strategic Purpose Statement
The Graduate Diploma in Hospitality Management provides graduates in other disciplines who wish to pursue a career in the hospitality industry with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a hospitality management career in the global market place. The programme also assists hospitality industry professionals to gain the discipline and recognition of a formal qualification and an organised knowledge system to complement their industry experience.

Education pathways
Graduates will be able to continue to postgraduate studies in hospitality management, or engage in interdisciplinary postgraduate studies utilising their expertise gained in both the GDHM and prior degree studies.

Entry Requirements
A candidate for admission to this programme of study shall: - hold a bachelor's degree (at least equivalent to New Zealand pass standard) awarded by a tertiary institution approved by the Academic Board, or equivalent qualification; and - have an English level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 (with no band less than 5.5) / TOEFL iBT 60 (with a writing score of 20) / PToE academic score of 50/AIS Test of English Proficiency (TEP) 52/80 (with no band less than 12); or - gain approval under Admission Regulation 3: Special Admission.

The Graduate Diploma in Hospitality Management is a one-year full-time programme consisting of 7 undergraduate courses. This 124 credit qualification includes one level 5 course on principles of hospitality management (17 credits); two level 6 courses regarding management, 17 and 18 credits respectively; and one level 7 course bringing together theoretical knowledge, analytical tools and implementation skills (18 credits). Students then choose an additional three level 7 courses from Hospitality Management or Tourism Management (18 credits each). Students can choose to complete an internship as part of this programme (weighted as two level 7 courses).
