Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the aeronautical engineering industry with graduates who have gained knowledge and skills in the specialist role of aeronautical storekeeping. They will be able to work with aviation parts and/or materials which require evidence of authenticity and traceability to the manufacturer prior to their release for use on aircraft, required for an operator working under either, the New Zealand Defence Force Airworthiness Policy, or Part 19 F, Part 145, Part 146, and/or Part 148 of the Civil Aviation Rules 1990.

This qualification is intended for learners who are planning to embark on a career in the aviation industry as an aeronautical storekeeper.

The aeronautical engineering sector of the aviation industry will benefit through employment of staff knowledgeable and capable of working effectively to maintain availability and provide stock of equipment and components.

Graduates will be capable of carrying out storekeeping duties specifically in an aeronautical engineering workplace under limited supervision.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply generic work skills to meet industry best practice standards
- Apply safe work practices in an aeronautical engineering workplace
- Carry out aeronautical engineering storekeeping duties, applying the underlying principles of aircraft construction and maintenance practices, to ensure compliance with all relevant CAA Rules, airworthiness directives, and/or New Zealand Defence Force Airworthiness Policy
Education pathways
This qualification can provide a pathway to other training opportunities with an aviation supply service provider.

These could include New Zealand qualifications on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework and/or in-house training for supply leadership roles.
Employment pathways
Graduates will have the skills and knowledge to work as aeronautical storekeepers, in either an aviation parts handling or aviation toolstore context.
