Strategic Purpose Statement
The aim of the Graduate Certificate in Applied Marketing is to provide learners who already have a degree, or extensive applicable experience, with theoretical and applied knowledge in Applied Marketing, which can be used in professional practice or further study in this area.
Graduate profile
Learners who have completed a Graduate Certificate in Applied Marketing will be able to: * Strategically analyse market information in order to apply and develop market research, marketing plans, promotional campaigns and cost-effective budgets.
Education pathways
Further educational opportunities may include enrolling in postgraduate study, for example the SIT Master of Applied Management or Postgraduate Diploma / Certificate in Applied Management.
Employment pathways
Graduates will be qualified to work in a range of employment sectors, from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through to engagement in larger, more complex enterprises, or as self-employed consultants.
Entry Requirements
Admission: To be eligible for admission to this programme, all applicants must meet three admission requirements: * Requirements for either General, Special, or Discretionary admission * Any additional Programme specific requirements * English language requirements General Admission: To be admitted to this programme all applicants must have obtained: * An undergraduate degree in any discipline. Special Admission: Applicants who have attained the age of 20 years on or before the first day of the intake in which study for the programme is to commence and who do not meet the general admission requirements stated above but believe that they have the level of preparedness for study at this level may apply for special admission. Applicants must:supply evidence of at least three years' work experience relevant to the area of study, AND have successfully completed a minimum of 40 credits of study at Level 6. Each mature applicant must provide their curriculum vitae detailing any relevant work experience and academic achievements. In assessing whether to grant special admission the primary focus will be on the applicant's ability to demonstrate a likelihood to succeed in the programme. All decisions will be at the discretion of the Relevant Academic Authority. Discretionary Admission: Applicants who do not meet the general admission requirements stated above and who believe that they have the level of preparedness for study at this level may apply for discretionary admission. In assessing whether to grant discretionary admission the primary focus will be on the applicant's ability to demonstrate a likelihood to succeed in the programme. All decisions will be at the discretion of the Relevant Academic Authority. Programme Specific Requirements: In line with NZQA regulations, applicants who achieve the courses required for a Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate by completing the Bachelor of Applied Management, are not permitted to credit transfer these to obtain a Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate where there is no new or additional learning or content. A Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate is in addition to undergraduate study, not a subset of it. English Language: All applicants (international and domestic) need to provide evidence that they have the necessary English language proficiency required for the programme. International applicants must provide evidence that they have the necessary English language proficiency required for the Programme as outlined in the table for internationally recognised English proficiency outcomes for international students from one test taken in the preceding two years, or an equivalent described in NZQA Rules and on Delivery Site English Language Requirements for International Ākonga webpage. All applicants must provide evidence that they have the necessary language literacy proficiency required for the Programme as demonstrated by the equivalence of: 10 NCEA literacy credits at Level 2 or above, made up of: * 5 credits in reading * 5 credits in writing Applicants who are unable to provide evidence of the above may be required to demonstrate capability using: an approved proficiency test or an equivalent described in NZQA Rules successful completion of Level 4 study in English.
