Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the poultry industry with individuals who have the skills and knowledge to assist with a range of core tasks relevant to the poultry industry.
The qualification is stranded to recognise the specific skills and knowledge required by the poultry industry sectors. This qualification is ideal for people who may have entry level experience in the sector, or a desire to work in the poultry industry and want to develop their skills and knowledge in a specific operation of a poultry facility. Graduate will be capable of working under limited supervision with responsibility for their work outcomes. |

Graduate profile |
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve poultry production goals in the workplace. - Apply knowledge of poultry health and welfare to the routine care of poultry. Graduates of the Poultry Egg Production strand will also be able to: - Apply knowledge of health and safety, animal welfare and sustainable practices to carry out a range of poultry egg production operations. Graduates of the Poultry Hatchery strand will also be able to: - Apply knowledge of health and safety, animal welfare and sustainable practices to carry out a range of poultry hatchery operations. Graduates of the Poultry Rearing strand will also be able to: - Apply knowledge of health and safety, animal welfare and sustainable practices to carry out a range of poultry rearing operations. |

This qualification can lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Poultry Management with strands in Poultry Egg Production, Poultry Hatchery, and Poultry Rearing (Level 4) [Ref: 2933]. |
