Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the glass sector with people who are able to work at entry-level as glass workers, in either glazing or glass processing, under limited supervision.

This qualification is suitable for people already working, or pursuing work as glass workers, and who wish to enhance their current capabilities to support their career opportunities across a range of companies in the glass sector.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply health and safety workplace practices to ensure own safety and minimise potential hazards to other team members when working in the glass industry.
- Communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers to achieve designated tasks.
- Apply basic knowledge of products, tools, materials, and manufacturing methods, to the production or installation of glass items.
- Calculate, order, and receive materials used in the production or installation of glass items.
Education pathways
This qualification can build on from the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (Level 2) [Ref: 0973] Construction and Infrastructure Vocational Pathway.

Graduates of this qualification may choose to progress into further study, including:
- New Zealand Certificate in Glazing (Level 4) with strands in Residential Glazing, Commercial Glazing, and Frameless Glazing [Ref: 2945]
- New Zealand Certificate in Glass Processing (Level 4) with optional strands in Manufacturing Insulating Glass Units, Manufacturing Toughened and Heat Strengthened Glass, Manufacturing Screen Printed Glass, Manufacturing Laminated Glass and Computer Numerical Controlled Machinery [Ref: 2946]

or other New Zealand construction related trades or management qualifications at levels 4, 5 and 6.
Employment pathways

Credits
