Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the interior linings installation industry with graduates who have achieved the practical skills and knowledge required to work unsupervised, completing interior linings work to the level required of a commercially competent interior linings installer.

This qualification is for those intending to work in the interior linings installation industry, and also provides recognition of knowledge and skills for those already working in the industry.

The strands in this qualification allow graduates to specialise in the knowledge and skills required for fixing interior linings, and finishing interior linings. The optional strand recognises the knowledge and skills required for installing fibrous plaster linings and decorative elements.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply knowledge of relevant legislation, drawings and specifications, and mathematics, to all aspects of the interior linings installation trade.
- Operate to and maintain the required standards of a commercially competent tradesperson.
- Develop and maintain ongoing learning and emerging work practices specific to interior linings installation.
- Provide leadership for people working in the interior linings installation environment.

Graduates of the Fixing strand will also be able to:
- Complete all aspects of interior linings fixing work, including to walls, ceilings and architectural details.

Graduates of the Finishing strand will also be able to:
- Complete all aspects of interior linings finishing work, including installing decorative mouldings and finishing architectural details.

Graduates of the Fibrous Plaster Installation strand will also be able to:
- Complete all aspects of fibrous plaster installation and finishing work including the installation and finishing of sheets, cornice, decorative mouldings, architectural elements and repair work.
Education pathways
This qualification builds on the:
- National Certificate in Educational Achievement (Level 2) [Ref: 0973] construction vocational pathway;
- New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills with strands in Allied Trades, Carpentry, and Joinery (Level 3) [Ref: 2834];
- New Zealand Certificate in Building, Construction, and Allied Trades Skills (Level 3) [Ref: 3845].

This qualification may lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Construction Related Trades (Supervisor) (Level 4) [Ref: 2381].
Employment pathways
