Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the marine industry with people who have the knowledge and skills to work in a team, unsupervised, to refit or construct new alloy or composite production boats.

This is an entry level qualification for people intending to enter or who are already working in the boat building sector, in the production of alloy or composite boats.

Graduates will have the specialised knowledge and skills required to manufacture alloy or composite boats in a production environment.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply health and safety practices to ensure own and others safety and minimise potential hazards and environmental risk in a production boat building work environment.
- Collaborate and contribute to the achievement of team objectives in a production boat building work environment.
- Apply specific industry knowledge and terminology to communicate effectively and behave in a professional manner with colleagues, managers, and customers.
- Select and use a range of products, materials, hand and power tools and plant and equipment relevant to common tasks for alloy or composite production boat building.

Graduates of the Alloy strand will also be able to:
- Apply knowledge of materials and techniques used in alloy production boat building.
- Interpret boat plans, specifications, and regulations to construct alloy production boats.
- Produce alloy boats in accordance with organisation standard production procedures.

Graduates of the Composite strand will also be able to:
- .Apply knowledge of materials and techniques used in composite production boat building.
- Interpret boat plans, specifications, and regulations to construct composite production boats.
- Produce composite boats in accordance with organisation standard production procedures.

- Or higher level qualifications in the design sector.

Graduates will be able to work in a range of unsupervised roles in the marine or composite

industry, including:
