Strategic Purpose Statement
The Pearson BTEC Level 7 Graduate Diploma in Business Innovation Management is for learners who work in, or want to work in, business management. It gives learners the opportunity to initiate and carry out projects, make business decisions in complex and unpredictable contexts and identify viable solutions to problems. Learners will be able to apply their knowledge and practical skills in the workplace. Learners will be workplace ready and have academic progression opportunities for lifelong learning.
This qualification enables learners to become effective and competent business unit managers across the entire value chain. Learners will gain the knowledge and skills which can be applied across a variety of sectors and to organisations of all sizes to enable successful performance in working life. This qualification will provide equal benefit for self-employed learners or start-up owners.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the qualification will be able to:
* manage the financial accounting and reporting requirements of an organisation
* assess the strategic position and apply a strategic purpose for an organisation
* influence others to effect creative and innovative change in an organisation
* apply strategic issues in supply chain management
* assess the impact of technology on supply chain management
* apply theories of management and leadership in organisational contexts
* advise on the management and leadership skills required for selected roles in an organisation
* plan a strategy for a viable entrepreneurial business idea
* plan the future growth of a viable entrepreneurial business idea
* present proposals for change and manage the change process in an organisation
* evaluate current ethical issues in a business
* assess how changes in the environment are impacting on business skills requirements
* use lean methods to improve the management of business operations in an organisation
* plan and evaluate the impact of quality improvement on an organisation
* undertake project-management activities
Education pathways
This qualification may build on the skills and knowledge from a range of qualifications across the management and commerce sector including but not limited to the:
* Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma in Business (UK Level 5)
* New Zealand Diploma in Business (NZQF Level 6)
On successful completion of the qualification, graduates may continue their study in the same, or related vocational area, at Postgraduate level.
Employment pathways

Full-time learners
Qualification requirement (one of the following):
* Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma (UK Level 5) OR
* New Zealand Diploma (NZQF Level 6) OR
* European equivalent at EQF Level 5 (120 ECTS) OR
* International equivalent at UK Level 5 (240 UK credits).
Part-time learners
Qualification or experience requirement (one of the following):
* Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma (UK Level 5) OR
* New Zealand Diploma (NZQF Level 6) OR
* European equivalent at EQF Level 5 (120 ECTS) OR
* International equivalent at UK Level 5 (240 UK credits) OR
* 1 to 3 years management experience.

Applicants for whom English is not a first language must show competency to a minimum of 6.0 on the IELTS academic scale with no band score lower than 5.5 or equivalent (equivalent means TOEFL, PTE Academic or any other NZQA recognised international test). The test score should be achieved in a single test session.

Credits
