Strategic Purpose Statement
The Postgraduate Diploma in Arts management is designed to extend and deepen an individual's knowledge and skills by building on attainment in undergraduate management and/or arts degrees or equivalent professional experience. The Post graduate Diploma prepares an individual for independent research and scholarship in the subject of arts management.
Graduate profile
A graduate of the PGDIP AM will be able to show evidence of advanced knowledge about a specialist field of enquiry or professional practice and engage in rigorous intellectual analysis, criticism and problem solving. Graduates will be able to
Apply general principles and basic knowledge of business practices including accounting, marketing, legal concerns and management style in an arts management environment
Identify and implement effective organisational and managerial practices which are financially, socially and ethically sound
Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills within a working environment as well as in the larger community
Demonstrate effective leadership skills and a willingness to wrk with others in solving problems, decision-making and planning for the future
Understand how policies and decisions (their own and others) affect the present and future quality of individual artists, programmes and organisations
Understand how policies and decisions (their own and others) affect agencies, groups and individuals outside the arts milieu in industry in the grater community and globally
Critically analyse situations and develop plans of actions for problem solving a variety of business and arts related problems reflecting clear and original thinking.

Entry Requirements
An individual eligible for entry to the PGDipAM will normally have completed all requirements of a relevant Bachelor's Degree or Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma, or is deemed to have acquired the relevant skills and knowledge through appropriate work or professional experience, at an additional level.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
