Strategic Purpose Statement
The programme is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to develop research and other transferable skills, taking a transdisciplinary approach. A transdisciplinary approach is taken and it is a research based programme with a focus on work-place learning. The programme is aimed at students in employment with a minimum of 2 years relevant professional experience, who are wishing to put theory into practice and incorporate practice in their study.

A growing career path exists for professional workplace-based innovators, entrepreneurs and applied researchers. These qualifications (PGCert and Masters) will enlarge the pool of people who can contribute expertise and experience to applied research and the provision of innovative solutions in a business, enterprise or commercialisation environment.
In both programmes, graduates will also have further developed attributes and transferrable skills such as: practical innovation, communication and problem solving, and critical and creative thinking. Depending on their choice of electives, they will have developed a deeper understanding of transdisciplinary co-creation, human centred design approaches, and entrepreneurship. These skills and expertise are highly valued in workplaces, enterprises, and applied research environments. Entry Requirements
Candidates are required to have gained either:
a. An undergraduate degree conferred by a New Zealand tertiary education institution with a mark average of B (65%) or above in the final year of study; or
b. A qualification, industry experience and/or assessment of prior learning approved as equivalent by the Programme Committee.
Domestic Candidates who have gained the Postgraduate Certificate in Innovation with a B (65%) grade average or higher will be eligible for Special Admission. Special Admission will be granted at the discretion of the relevant Head of School/Centre Director or delegated authority.

Content
There are no formal classes. Students will be guided through the programme by an academic lead supervisor and will also be paired with an industry mentor. Students will have developed a research plan in the first part of the programme and will be spending at least 3 days a week in business, working on the project.

Credits
