Strategic Purpose Statement |
Graduates of the Master of Design will demonstrate mastery of theoretically sophisticated subject matter through a body of scholarly creative work, which is presented in a public forum and supported by an exegesis or equivalent, or through a thesis, which could form the basis of scholarly journal articles. The work will respond to societal needs, address sustainability from multiple perspectives and be positioned within a wider framework of academic and applied research. This qualification prepares students for doctoral level study, an academic career or a lead design or design management role.

Graduates of the Master of Design will be able to:
* demonstrate mastery of skills, techniques and methods associated with their discipline * analyse sophisticated information and incorporate critique to arrive at a resolved final design outcome or thesis * demonstrate a high order of skill in the planning, execution and completion of a piece of original research or creative scholarly work * address sustainability from cultural, social, environmental and/or economic perspectives through the body of creative work OR thesis * assess and evaluate the cultural, social, environmental and/or economic impact of a project or subject matter * confidently articulate the impact and contribution of their work in a wider context * exhibit or present their work in a local, national and/or international forum * craft sophisticated creative solutions and respond to professional challenges * apply the skills learned in this programme to new situations |

Entry Requirements |
Minimum entry requirements are
1. The Bachelor of Design (Honours) at level 8, or the Postgraduate Diploma in Design at level 8 with an overall grade of B+ (75%) in Design Research Methods and Applied Design Project 2 or an equivalent postgraduate qualification of 120 credits in a related area. 2. Exceptional applicants not meeting the entry requirements but with appropriate documented professional experience may also be considered. 3. International entrants must demonstrate that they have equivalent experience/qualifications as domestic entrants, and, for those whose first language is not English, must provide evidence of English language competence of IELTS academic band score of 6.5 (overall) with no individual band less than 6.0, or equivalent. |

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
