Strategic Purpose Statement
The Postgraduate Diploma in Design extends and deepens a student's design knowledge and skills, by building on an undergraduate degree in Design (or a related field). It may also build on the successful completion of a Postgraduate Certificate in Design together with professional work experience in Design (or a related field).
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Design are able to show evidence of advanced knowledge about a specialist field of enquiry or professional practice and engage in rigorous intellectual analysis, criticism and problem solving.

More specifically, graduates are able to:
Apply critical reasoning to defining a design problem and possible causes;
Interpret and analyse strategic design principles;
Utilise technical and/or theoretical design methodology; and
Work both independently and as part of a team.
Education pathways
The Postgraduate Diploma in Design (120 credits at NZQF Level 8) prepares Bachelor's students for higher study and develops their specialist knowledge in design theory and practice. Successful students can gain entry to a Master of Design programme.
Employment pathways

Entry Requirements
A New Zealand Bachelor's degree that is of relevance to design (such as Design - Graphic, Industrial, Product, Fine Arts, Cognitive Science/Psychology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering),
OR
An appropriate international equivalent design or allied professional qualification requiring at least three years full-time tertiary study at an appropriate level as approved by the Academic Board.

Credits
