Strategic Purpose Statement
The Postgraduate Certificate in Design is a short (60 credits at Level 8, 15 week) programme that supports a student with appropriate and equivalent skill that has been acquired through significant relevant work experience in Design (or a related field) to enter postgraduate study, without having to commit to a full Masters programme from the outset. This entry into postgraduate study programme is also suitable for career changers and students who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in a different area, but who can show a relevant understanding and interest in the field of design.
Graduate profile
A graduate of a Postgraduate Certificate is able to show evidence of advanced knowledge about Design, and more specifically, is able to gain entry to higher-level study.
Education pathways
The Postgraduate Certificate in Design programme (60 credits at NZQF Level 8) provides students with specialist knowledge of design theory and practice and allows a successful student to gain advanced standing into the Postgraduate Diploma in Design (120 credits at NZQF Level 8).

Entry Requirements
A New Zealand Bachelor's degree that is of relevance to design (such as Design - Graphic, Industrial, and Product, Fine Arts, Cognitive Science/Psychology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering).
OR
An appropriate international equivalent design or allied professional qualification requiring at least three years full-time tertiary study at an appropriate level as approved by the Academic Board;
OR
Relevant professional experience (considered to be equivalent to a Bachelor's degree ~ six plus years experience in a design related field showing career progression and increasing responsibility) as approved by the Academic Board.
