Graduates of this 2 year programme develop a theoretical and practical base which will allow them to play an effective role in sport and recreation industries.
Graduate profile
By the time students have successfully completed this programme, they will, as graduates, be able:

to study successfully at a higher level and therefore enter directly into year 3 of the BSR delivered at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, or at the Auckland Institute of Technology
to work in the sport and recreation fields having good all-round skills and knowledge in a wide variety of sports and recreational pursuits
to communicate well with people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds in a sporting and recreational context
to think, write and communicate about sport and recreation in an accomplished and relaxed manner
to offer fitness, sports and recreational programmes to people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds
to work in bi-cultural and multicultural settings within sport and recreational contexts
to be able to effectively work as part of a team within the sport and recreation industry.
to have an holistic view of sport and recreation in New Zealand society and their role within the infra-structures that are currently in place.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
