Strategic Purpose Statement
The Bachelor of Applied Management is a qualification designed to prepare graduates for employment in a range of business environments and organisations at both operational and strategic management levels.
Learners will develop knowledge and skills that will enable them to work from an innovative, inquiring, and collaborative perspective in a range of business and management roles within Aotearoa/ New Zealand and internationally. Learners will select one of the following majors: Business Management; Human Resource
Management; Marketing; Accounting; and Finance.
Graduates may also choose to pursue further study at graduate or postgraduate levels in business management related areas.
Graduate profile
A graduate of the Bachelor of Applied Management is able to: 1. Competently apply the underpinning theoretical principles, technical knowledge, and skills required to work in the applied management industry. 2. Apply communication skills and appropriate technologies to enhance work effectiveness, efficiencies, and strategic outcomes within their professional practice. 3. Research, evaluate, and apply technical skill required to work in the applied management industry. 4. Apply emerging applied management concepts with an inquiry, flexible, creative and critical mind-set. 5. Analyse social and ethical issues and manage positively in a culturally diverse environment. 6. Solve complex problems in applied management contexts as a management professional. Business Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Applied Management, all graduates from the major in Business Management will also be able to: 7. Apply advanced practice and theory to a range of Business Management contexts. 8. Review and assess on self as a management practitioner in the Business Management field. Human Resource Major Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Applied Management, all graduates from the major in Human Resource Major will also be able to: 9. Apply advanced practice and theory to a range of Human Resource contexts. 10. Review and assess on self as a management practitioner in the Human Resource field. Marketing Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Applied Management, all graduates from the major in Marketing will also be able to: 11. Apply advanced practice and theory to a range of marketing contexts. 12. Review and assess on self as a management practitioner in the Marketing field. Accounting Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Applied Management, all graduates from the major in Accounting will also be able to: 13. Apply advanced practice and theory to a range of Accounting contexts. 14. Review and assess on self as a management practitioner in the Accounting field. * Note that graduates who have completed the accounting major who have chosen to complete a specified list of courses will be eligible to follow the pathway towards registration as chartered accountants as approved by Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand and Chartered Accountant Professionals. Finance Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Applied Management, all graduates from the major in Finance will also be able to: 15. Apply advanced practice and theory to a range of Finance contexts. 16. Review and assess on self as a management practitioner in the Finance field.

Entry Requirements
Brief Entry Requirements
NCEA Level 3; or evidence of ability to complete academic requirements for the programme; or New Zealand Certificate at Level 4 (a relevant field recommended); OR Special entry. AND English language competency where English is not a first language.
Detailed Requirements
For Certificate and Diploma programmes at Levels 5, 6 and 7, domestic students under 20 and all international students must have: NCEA Level 3; or evidence of ability to complete academic requirements for the programme; or New Zealand Certificate at Level 4 (a relevant field recommended).
OR
Special entry: Applicants who do not meet the academic requirements may be given special admission if they can provide evidence that they are capable of achieving the programme outcomes. Special admission may also apply for applicants over 20 years.
AND
English language competency where English is not a first language. International applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to show evidence of language competency, issued within the last two years. The minimum level of competency required is: IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5, or an equivalent relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF related rules (Rule 18).
For domestic applicants for whom English is not their first language, evidence of language competency may be required.
