Strategic Purpose Statement
The Postgraduate Certificate is designed for domestic and international students seeking to broaden scholarly research and management capabilities. It will build on previous undergraduate degree, graduate studies and/or strengthen career aspirations within fields of management, business, health, hospitality or information technology. The standard at which the graduate will operate includes the ability to conceptualise and evaluate theory and practice within a management scope. Graduates will work towards independent study demonstrating an advanced level of knowledge, applying evidence and enquiry to a relevant management context
Graduate profile
The aim of Level 8 is to extend and deepen an individual's management knowledge and skills and build on attainment in their endorsement area. The programme contains specific courses that will ensure students are provided with the tools and skills necessary.
Education pathways
Graduates from the Postgraduate Diploma in Management with a B average may be admitted to the Master of Management.
Employment pathways
On completion of the programme, graduates should be able to take up junior or middle management roles in business, health, hospitality or Information technology (depending on their entry work experience) with an in depth understanding of the issues that face managers in these fieldsTo find out more about employment opportunities click on the CareersNZ logo, then the provider who offers this qualification.
Entry Requirements
One of the below for admission:
1. Bachelor Honours degree or Postgraduate Certificate
2. Graduate Diploma at L7
3. Undergraduate degree
4. Special entry, courses and/or experience
AND English language competency where English is not a first language. All students:
English language competency where English is not a first language.
* International applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to show evidence of language competency, issued within the last two years. The level of competency required is:
o IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0,
o or an equivalent as outlined in NZQF-related rules (Rule 18).
* For domestic applicants for whom English is not their first language, evidence of language competency may be required.
There are four pathways to admission to the Postgraduate Certificate in Management programme9:
1. Bachelor Honours Degree or Postgraduate Certificate.
2. A Graduate Diploma at level 710: Graduate Diploma in business or management or endorsement area or equivalent
3. An undergraduate degree11: Bachelor in business or management or endorsement area or equivalent.
4. Special entry12 - Applicants who do not meet any of the academic requirements may be given special admission if they can provide evidence that they are capable of achieving the programme outcomes through a combination of academic and practical or professional experience.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
