Strategic Purpose Statement |
The aim of this qualification is to provide students with the skills to engage confidently in Maori contexts. This diploma will develop Maori language skills to an intermediate level by focusing on korero tawhito, moteatea, and the different dialects spoken in Aotearoa and Te Waipounamu. Students will gain an understanding of and participate in the kawa of the Marae and interpret the meanings, beliefs and practices relating to all facets of pa/marae and marae protocols.

After successful completion of this qualification, students will have the skills and knowledge to be able to:
1. listen to and appreciate the rhythm, nuances and enunciation of te reo Maori; 2. demonstrate listening, reading, oral and literacy skills in Maori to an intermediate level; 3. understand grammar and sentence structures of Maori language; |
