Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification is for individuals who wish to develop their experience and practice in a non-traditional performing arts discipline such as Pasifika, Musical Theatre, Circus Arts or other non-defined and emerging arts. This qualification is not intended for individuals wishing to focus on Dance, Drama or Music.

It provides the performing arts industry with performers who have a limited repertoire of technical skills that allow them to perform in community and professional settings.

Graduates can contribute to the cultural and social life of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply a range of technical skills for a defined performing arts discipline.
- Perform their chosen performing arts discipline with confidence and ability to engage an audience.
- Operate as an effective member of a performance group, using a range of personal and interpersonal skills.
- Apply a broad range of research skills to consider own work and the work of others to inform own practice.
- Apply understanding of the employment characteristics of the performing arts industry to develop own career plan.

This qualification can lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Performing Arts (Level 5) [Ref: 3433], or further study at a higher level.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
