Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification prepares individuals to operate as scenic and props professionals who can apply specialised skills to create and manage props and scenic requirements for the screen, live performance, events, and related creative industries.

Graduates will be capable of working independently and collaboratively in a variety of performance-based contexts.

Graduates will be able contribute to enhancing the creation and delivery of high-quality screen and live performance events in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply knowledge of craft, making and finishing skills to construct and produce professional scenes and props.
- Interpret design information and collaborate with designers to ensure appropriate construction methods and materials are applied to specific sets and props.
- Select and manage construction materials required for making sets and props.
- Ensure operational safety and compliance within legislation and rules.
- Apply knowledge of professional practice and relevant industry requirements to develop or pursue employment opportunities.
- Research and reflect on current and emerging industry techniques and technologies to inform and improve own practice.

This qualification can lead to further study at a higher level in the performing arts or relevant creative industries.
