The qualification is designed to provide the beauty sector with people who have the skills and knowledge to manufacture and fit performance prosthetics and create performance makeup and special effects.
This qualification is intended for learners who wish to develop skills and knowledge towards becoming performance makeup artists or performance prosthetics technicians. It is also suitable for those who are already employed in the performance makeup and prosthetics industry and wish to gain a credential for their experience. Graduates will be capable of working under broad guidance with a degree of self-management within the performance makeup and prosthetics contexts. |

Graduate profile |
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Implement professional standards and expectations relating to prosthetics and performance makeup including all relevant health, safety and hygiene obligations. - Manufacture prosthetics and create performance makeup and special effects in accordance with industry standards. - Prepare client's skin, and apply and remove prosthetics, performance makeup and special effects in accordance with industry standards. - Research characters for a given brief to create, modify and design body art and face and body designs. - Implement a broad range of effective communication and networking skills to work effectively within a performance makeup and prosthetics workplace. - Work to a given brief to meet production requirements to industry standards within a specified timeframe. - Apply knowledge of skin and skin-related disease and disorders to identify symptoms and advise clients of possible implications specific to prosthetic requirements. |
