Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification will provide the snowsport industry and mountain facilities with individuals who have the knowledge and skills to perform safely and effectively under indirect supervision in operational roles at a mountain facility or snowsport area.

Graduates of the Lift Operations strand will have the knowledge and skills to operate lifts and perform daily operating procedures for a lift department at a mountain facility or snowsport area.

Graduates of the Road and Carpark Services strand will have the knowledge and skills of road safety and parking requirements in snow and ice conditions to provide road and parking services to road users on a snowsport area.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply safe working procedures and practices, including identifying and responding to risks and hazards, to promote a culture of safety within a mountain facility operations department.
- Apply communication skills and customer service techniques to work collaboratively to respond to the needs of mountain facility customers.

Graduates of the Lift Operations strand will also be able to:
- Safely operate aerial lifts and maintain a safe lift station for safe loading and unloading.
- Manage queuing, crowd control and lift access to meet individual user's diverse needs and mountain facility requirements.

Graduates of the Road and Carpark Services strand will also be able to:
- Identify and respond to road and carpark conditions and capacity, weather, terrain and hazards.
- Provide safe and effective road and carpark services including alpine conditions driver technique advice at a snowsport area.

This qualification may build on the New Zealand Certificate in Alpine Resort Operations (Level 3) [Ref: 3224].

This qualification may lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Snowgrooming (Level 4) [Ref: 3494].
Employment pathways
