Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the construction industry with commercially competent registered roofers who are able to install, maintain, and repair roofing systems safely and in accordance with the Building Code and Building Act 2004.

This qualification provides learners with an entry into the construction industry and is intended for candidates who are training in the workplace, to give them the competencies to fulfil the requirements of the Licensed Building Practitioners (LBP).
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply building construction industry and relevant non-building construction industry legislation governing the roofing industry sector to meet current roofing Standards
- Plan residential or commercial roof and wall cladding work applying current roofing trade practice
- Monitor and maintain safe working procedures, practices, and the environment, and identify and control hazards in the workplace
- Work ethically and professionally within the building construction industry, communicate with stakeholders on roofing and related matters, and maintain current competency to enhance industry reputation.

Graduates of the Concrete or Clay Tile Roof strand will also be able to:
- Develop and apply a range of standard and non-standard processes and solutions to the installation, maintenance, and repair of concrete or clay tile roofing systems to meet current roofing trade practice.

Graduates of the Profiled Metal Roof and Wall Cladding strand will also be able to:
- Develop and apply a range of standard and non-standard processes and solutions to the installation, maintenance, and repair of profiled metal roof and wall cladding systems to meet current roofing trade practice.

Graduates of the Metal Tile Roof strand will also be able to:
- Develop and apply a range of standard and non-standard processes and solutions to the installation, maintenance, and repair of metal tile roof systems to meet current roofing trade practice.

Graduates of the Roof Membrane Systems strand will also be able to:
- Develop and apply a range of standard and non-standard processes and solutions to the installation, maintenance, and repair of roof membrane systems to meet current roofing trade practice.

Graduates of the Shingle or Slate Roof strand will also be able to:
- Develop and apply a range of standard and non-standard processes and solutions to the installation, maintenance, and repair of shingle or slate roof systems to meet current roofing trade practice.
Education pathways
Graduates of this qualification may complete other strands or progress to advanced certificates in management or project management.
Employment pathways
Graduates will be qualified to work as roofing installers.
