Strategic Purpose Statement |
This Graduate Diploma is designed for practicing educators who are qualified in a vocation other than teaching. Emphasis is on achieving the best possible synergies between the dual roles of educator and industry professional. Participants will gain knowledge, skills and confidence to facilitate and support learning in modern and flexible learning environments.
The programme incorporates adult learning principles, experiential learning approaches and evidence based reflective practice within a work-based context. It models, through delivery and activity, best practice in teaching and learning across face-to-face, blended and on-line learning environments |

Graduates of this programme will be able to:
Articulate and apply theories and practices of teaching and learning, and critically evaluate how they influence and shape their dual professional roles as educators and expert practitioners Design, plan, facilitate, reflect, and critically evaluate learning and learner experiences using a wide range of context appropriate strategies and technologies Employ an inquiry and evidence based approach (encompassing research skills and techniques) to inform practice and innovate for successful and inclusive learning and teaching Develop learner-centred teaching environments through enacting manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga Embed principles pf education for sustainability, inclusive practice and te Tiriti o Waitangi Foster collegiality and collaboration within and across disciplines and add value to professional and learner communities. |

Entry Requirements |
A bachelor's degree or skills for study at this level through study, work and/or life experience. Students will need to demonstrate these skills before entry.
All participants must be working with learners in a post-secondary environment. If English is an alternative language English Proficient evidence is required. IELTS 6.5 Academic is required with no score lower than 6.5 in any subject. |

6 compulsory components: Learner centred practice Teaching Approaches for Learner Success Inquiry Based Practice Design for Learning Theories and Principles of Teaching and Learning Advanced Educational Practice Learners will select electives including: Applied Inquiry Based Practice Special Topic Implementing Sustainable Practice Unspecified electives from any approved level 7 course. |
