Strategic Purpose Statement
The aim of the Graduate Certificate in Activity Based Learning is to provide educators with a professional development programme that enables them to dynamically engage and involve learners in contextualised experiential learning and assessment that is real world and activity based.
Graduate profile
The graduate of the Graduate Certificate in Activity Based Learning is an advanced educational professional who is culturally aware and dynamically engages with students as active participants in the learning process using activity based, co-constructed and real world oriented teaching and assessment. Their practice is supported by the effective use of current and emerging learning technologies in an educational setting. A graduate of the Graduate Certificate in Activity Based Learning will be able to: use research-based theory to underpin practice design, develop, implement and evaluate Activity Based courses design, develop and evaluate holistic and integrated assessments demonstrate an understanding and commitment to the advancement of Matauranga Maori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the application of Ako (Maori Pedagogy) demonstrate a commitment to the understanding and development of cultural competency as reflected in educational environments practice innovative Activity Based facilitation reflect and evaluate to inform practice implement a range of techniques to engage students give timely, constructive feedback to students incorporate a range of methodologies and practices to address the diverse needs of individual students work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria for admission into the programme. Academic Applicants must: Have a graduate degree at Level 7 or above or equivalent (usually three years' or more) relevant experience; AND Demonstrate that they are capable of studying at Level 7 (this may be through attainment of other qualifications at an appropriate level). English language entry requirements English language requirements for all applicants: Applicants must have sufficient competence in the English language to undertake this programme that is taught and assessed in English. Any applicant whose first language is not English will be required to provide evidence of their English language competency as follows: English language requirements for applicants for whom English is a second language: Applicants for whom English is a second language (including international applicants) seeking entry into this programme must meet the current NZQA English language requirements for the Graduate Certificate as specified in the table found at: here Other admission requirements Applicants must: Be teaching and be able to implement practical components and projects arising from this programme of study with a group of students engaged in learning.
