Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this diploma is to provide New Zealand with graduates who have updated knowledge and specialist skills to remain current in a specific area of Web & Multimedia Systems, in response to the changing needs and demands of the dynamic ICT environment. The graduates will obtain specific knowledge and technical skills to design, develop and maintain Web sites and applications, mobile applications, multimedia graphic designing and user experience. Alongside the technical knowledge, graduates will be empowered to have a strong customer focus, integrity, and solid analytical skills.
Graduates will be capable of applying current ICT Professional skills, knowledge and practice that will be internationally recognised. They will be able to operate with appropriate professional standards and practice, both independently and as part of a team. Businesses, organisations and communities will benefit from having an on-going supply of ICT Professionals who are experienced and qualified in an area of their current ICT field.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
1. Apply the technical skills in designing, building, and maintaining the corporate databases and information solutions.

2. Apply technical skills to pragmatically develop frontend and backend of Web and Multimedia applications

3. Design useful, efficient, elegant and modern user interfaces for Web and Multimedia applications using responsive design methods.

4. Develop and design applications for mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets which also consume Web services.

5. Apply technical and management skills to develop a multimedia or Web project as per requirements, design specifications and stakeholder expectations.

6. Research and evaluate stakeholder's needs and expectations; apply the relevant skills and knowledge to recommend an effective solution to match stakeholder's needs and expectations.
Education pathways
Graduates of this qualification will have the knowledge and skills required to undertake further study towards a level8/ degree level or equivalent qualification in ICT or specialist ICT certifications in Web & Multimedia Systems.
Employment pathways

Entry Requirements
Applicants must have a Diploma in IT (Level 5), or a Level 6 qualification, or equivalent knowledge and skills. If English is not their first language and for International students an overall IELTS band score of at least 6.0 is required with no band score lower than 5.5, or evidence must be provided of equivalent English language proficiency.
