Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of this qualification is to provide people in a wide variety of gas industry support roles with the skills and knowledge to support and assist the public and other gas industry members with gas related incidents, emergencies and queries and to co-ordinate functions across businesses in the gas industry.
The wider gas industry will benefit from the consistent use of language and approach to coordination or management of incidents, emergencies and queries across the different roles and parts of the gas industry. Graduates will operate unsupervised and know their limitations when dealing with incidents, they will know when to seek advice and will be able to correctly make a judgement about when to escalate a gas incident. |

Graduate profile |
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Apply knowledge of gas emergency protocols to coordinate a response and collate incident information for an emergency situation in the gas industry. - Apply knowledge of the properties and hazards of gas and the legislative and health and safety requirements relating to the industry to provide accurate information to external customers. - Apply knowledge of the different sectors of the gas industry, their assets and their relationship to each other to make informed decisions in the gas industry. - Use industry specific systems, tools and terminology to respond to gas related queries and requests. |
