Strategic Purpose Statement
To provide learners with practical skills necessary to perform the duty of a competent crew member on an auxiliary powered sailing vessel or a powered vessel in the superyacht industry. To provide learners with skills to enable them to act as professional crewmembers, able to adapt to any working environment on board a private or charter vessel. To provide learners with a recognised, logical career pathway within the superyacht industry, supported by recognised qualifications.
Graduate profile
Graduates will have the knowledge and employment-related attributes necessary to succeed as a crew member on board a superyacht or a power driven vessel.

Entry Requirements
Prospective students must be at least 18 years of age. Prospective students must be physically capable of crew duties aboard a vessel, verified by a current Medical Certificate. Basic numeracy/literacy skills are required ? IELTS 6 or equivalent, if English is second language. Motivation to work in vessel operations industry demonstrated by interview.

Qualification Type

Level

The NZQF has ten levels. Level one is least complex and is often entry-level, for example foundation certificates. Levels eight to ten are the most complex, and include post-graduate study.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
